I Am: Jesus in His Own Words - Week 3

I Am the Vine
John 15

  • Your life will make an eternal difference when you are rightly connected with Christ.

  • John 15:1-2, 5-8

    • A life that makes an eternal difference is a life that is connected to Jesus.

    • Remaining is a variable.

    • Remaining is required for fruitfulness.

    • The penalty for lack of fruitfulness is severe.

    • Fruitfulness is a proof of discipleship.

What are the critical components to a high-impact life?

  1. A source of power for spiritual productivity (John 15:1, 7)

  2. A decision to remain (John 15:4-5)

  3. A maximizer of spiritual productivity (John 15:2, 6)

  • How does he prepare the fruitless branch?

    • “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit….”
      John 15:2a

  • How does he prepare the fruitful branch for greater fruitfulness?

    • “...while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”
      John 15:2b

  • How does he deal with the withered branch?

    • “If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.”
      John 15:6
