Notes
What Have We Lost If We Lose the Resurrection?
1 Corinthians 15:14-20
Why is the resurrection so important?
It was the primary message of the apostles. (Acts 1:21-22)
It was the primary reason for opposition. (Acts 4:1-2)
It was the symbol of Christianity. (Acts 17:18)
It was the primary criminal charge. (Acts 24:21)
It is the central proof that Jesus Christ is God. (Romans 1:3-4)
What do we lose without the resurrection? (1 Corinthians 15:14-20)
We have nothing worth believing.
We have nothing to say.
Our reputation is trashed.
We are buried in our sin.
Hope is gone.
Discussion
Use these questions to reflect on this week's message as a family or group.
Jesus made several “I Am” statements. Read John 11:21-27. When he raised Lazarus from the dead, what “I Am” statement did Jesus make?
Read Acts 24:21. Why was Paul arrested? Why was that so offensive to the religious leaders?
Pastor Brian shared that without the resurrection, we have nothing to say. Read 1 Corinthians 15:14-15. What does this mean for us today?
Read 1 Corinthians 15:16-17. If Jesus has not been raised from the dead, it would be a big deal for our “religious beliefs.” What are the serious consequences for us as individuals if there was no resurrection?
Read 1 Corinthians 15:18-19. What does it say about those who have “fallen asleep in Christ”? What is the implication for us?
Read 1 Corinthians 15:20. This changes everything! What do these words mean to you? Who do you know that needs to hear the message of Easter this coming week?
