Breaking Point - Week 2
Drive vs. Driven
1 Chronicles 21
Two degrees of difference over time can make or break your life.
drive: an internal desire to progress or achieve which allows us to accomplish life assignments for the glory of God
Drive allows us to:
move out of our parents’ house.
be gainfully employed.
maximize our gifts and abilities.
chase our dreams.
build a family.
move the needle for the cause and kingdom of Christ.
driven: a compulsion to achieve for the sake of achievement
Being Driven:
is about keeping score.
is about accomplishment, not enjoyment.
is measured by comparison to the accomplishments of others rather than being measured against my own abilities.
is always about “more” rather than “enough.”
doesn’t allow for the concept of Sabbath.
Genesis 1:27-28
Biblical Principles about Work
Work is part of the blessing of creation, not part of the curse.
Work is an act of worship.
Work is designed by God to be a primary source of satisfaction in our life.
Work is a wonderful servant and a terrible master.
